Well, it has been a few months since I last posted.
August:The Bliss of Summer
We went on a trip to the beach with mom after returning from our annual MI trip and had so much fun. It is was as if time stood still and we were able to enjoy the girls to the fullest without many worries. They are getting so big and I am learning so much from them. It is so amazing to see the view that your children have on the world around them. To understand what is truly important in life, is to be a kid. "Mom, look at the waves and the dolphins. Aren't they amazing?", said Luna to me. So true, God's creation is amazing and to see it as simple as dolphins moving with the waves, or your daughter asking you to help her build a sand castle. The ancient scientist once were quoted saying, "Life is made up of millions of atoms, like sand. When you look at it from afar you see what seems to be a solid beach, but as you get closer you see there are bumps in the sand and it is not as solid as once appeared. As you step onto the beach, you see the rolls of sand the wind has moved and the soft, wet crystals that were altered by the waves & water. Then you bend down and pick up some between your hands and see that sand is really a million tiny particles of crushed shells. Wow, life is so amazing and it is only possible with our God. My girls are something to marvel at and thank the heavens for the wonder in front of me. Luna was exploring, making new friends and enjoying the thrills of waves, sand and boogie boards. Rayne was marveling at the shells she discovered while trying to keep up with sister. Soon, the night would set in and give me a chance to reflect on the day with my own mom. Asking if I was like that as a child and if my wonderment ever caught her by surprise. The highlight for me was justing being able to relax and enjoy the simple things; eating donuts at a local shop after having a full day, attempting to build a sand castle with my girls, or just playing in the pool and trying to keep up as the "lazy river" pulled us around in a large circle. Just as the summer ends, Luna decides she is ready to be baptized. Mom is still hear and gets to experience it. God is so good!
September: School get into full gear
School begins and we have an interesting start. Luna is such a great student and loves to absorb knowledge. Knowing this, we start the year off with some review and new curriculum for History study. We choose "Story of the World" that uses chronological order of events based on time periods (ancient, middle ages, modern, etc.). She seems to enjoy it and is intrigued by the activities of nomads and then the Egyptians. Rayne loves to color, so she is set and stories of the past still interest her. Great, awesome time right? Well, Luna soon realizes that the "review" is getting boring. Luckily with a daughter who is so honest, there is never a dull moment nor does it require a mind-reader to figure it out. So I try to explain that this "review" will help her with writing more than the pronunciation. I proceed to ask her if she would rather do it in the afternoon to which she replies that would be great mom! Rayne, on the other hand, decides that soon after starting school she would "like to be like Luna and write letters down!" Now, I am entering a new field that requires me to do more multitasking then I have ever done. What is a mother to do, but get help from her elders in the homeschooling community. Multitasking has never looked so good! We are a month into it, and yes I have days that don't go exactly as planned. But overall, I love it and couldn't see myself doing anything else.
October: Mom gets a job as a teacher in co-op
You heard it right, mom is now not only teaching her children. God has brought an opportunity to teach science, my passion, to other homeschool students ages 8-15~ and I said yes! I began teaching towards the end of September and haven't looked back. I am teaching elementary science to 5th & 6th graders this semester and we are studying Geology, Paleontology and Archeology with ancient times as our material. Also I teach General Science to 7th and 8th graders where we are studying everything from space, to circulatory system to engineering of ancient structures. John schedule changed at the end of summer and he went to 1st shift! What a blessing in disguise. He is up early and I get to start my day with my "quiet bible time". After that, any review or school prep is done. I am ready to go by the time they get up and my girls don't feel like I have taking from their time. It makes for a fairly smooth day.
We have all been blessed and with
